I am so excited to share these beautiful photos that are saturated with emotion. I was blessed enough to be able to capture the birth of my good friends Nicole and Jeremy’s baby boy in April.

When they asked if I would consider being their birth photographer, I was bubbling up inside with excitement! It wasn’t just because they’re a couple of our closest friends (though that was obviously a big reason), but also because I had a cesarean birth in January too.

Nicole had a cesarean with their first child, Ava, so she opted to have another with this sweet babe. I remember talking with Nicole about how difficult it was to come to terms with the fact that she had to have a cesarean with Ava, how she truly had to mourn the birth she hoped to have. So many mothers experience this, so many are disappointed with their bodies or feel like they missed out on really giving birth to their babies.

I wanted Nicole and Jeremy to look back on their cesarean birth with fondness and joy. This mother was giving birth to her precious son in the best and safest way she could, and that should be celebrated! It was so emotional for me (hello postpartum hormones) because we delivered at the same hospital just a few months before. I definitely had to take a quick tear-wiping break in the OR between photos…

Enjoy a look into the birth of Carson Joseph Byrne!
